Retina imaging

To examine the eyes, a special camera is used to photograph the background of the eye in order to determine changes in the blood vessels at the background of the eye. The procedure is non-contact. The eyes are not ‘dripped wide’ and your sight is not affected. If you have acute eye inflammation or have had eye surgery within the last four weeks, the examination will not be undertaken. An ocular test is also carried out in some study centres.

In the NAKO second re-examination, retinal imaging is part of examination module M 8, the eye examinations and the olfactory test.
