NAKO e.V. association

The German National Cohort (NAKO) is organised by the NAKO e.V. association based in Heidelberg. Since 2014, more than 205,000 randomly selected people have undergone repeated medical examinations and been asked about their lifestyle habits at 18 study centres.

26 institutions from the Helmholtz Association, universities, the Leibniz Association and other research institutes in Germany have joined forces within NAKO e.V. to form a network. The study is financed by public funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Helmholtz Association and the participating federal states.
