The workshop of the three Berlin study centers, held on 3 November 2025 at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) in Potsdam-Rehbrücke, strengthened the valuable exchange between research and practice.

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., staff members and scientific principal investigators (PIs) from the three Berlin study centers gathered in the Gerty Cori Building to present and jointly discuss current projects of the German National Cohort. The agenda included topics such as the NAKO Nutrition Module, analyses on allergies, endpoint validations, and the Level 3 project “Chronotype Study” at the DIfE. The presentations were complemented by guided tours through the DIfE study center as well as a joint “coming together” for in-depth personal exchange.

Dr. Sylvia Gastell (Study Center Berlin South/Brandenburg, DIfE), who organized the workshop together with Dr. Lilian Krist (Study Center Berlin-Mitte, Charité) and Manuela Stendal (Study Center Berlin-North, Max Delbrück Center), emphasized:
“What made this day so special was above all the lively and trusting exchange among the participants. Researchers from the Berlin institutes and staff members of the NAKO study centers came together to learn from one another and to strengthen the connection between those who collect the data and those who analyze it. This practical dialogue vividly demonstrated how powerful and productive collaboration between research and practice can be.”

With renewed motivation, all participants now look forward to future teamwork, new challenges, and new insights that will significantly shape the future of the German National Cohort.
