We are delighted to be part of the next bioRN Lounge on 24 March 2026 in Heidelberg, where we will be providing insights into the German National Cohort (NAKO) – Germany’s largest epidemiological population study. Employees of the members of the Rhine-Neckar Life Science Cluster and scientists from the research institutions in bioRN are cordially invited to attend.

Referent
Leo Panreck, Head of Research Data Management at NAKO e.V., will give a presentation on “Longitudinal human data and biosamples as a resource for the life science community”.
Date: Tuesday, 24 March 2026, 6 am
Location: Kesselhaus im Restaurant Urban Kitchen, Poststr. 36/5, Heidelberg
Parking: Tiefgarage Poststr. 7 (P1)
With over 205,000 participants, the german National Cohort (NAKO) is Germany’s largest long-term population study and a unique national research database. It provides high-quality data on health and lifestyle factors – perfectly combined with a unique and extensive collection of biological samples. Our goal is to support the exploration of new scientific questions aimed at improving human health. To this end, we provide researchers nationally and internationally with data and biosamples for verified and approved research projects.
Participants can look forward to the following:
- In-depth insights into NAKO data and biosamples: scope, quality and strengths of the database for epidemiology, prevention and medicine.
- Practical tips: How can I request data and biosamples? What current calls has NAKO published? What new technical developments are there (e.g. Trusted Research Environments)?
- Interactive discussion: Leo Panreck and other NAKO e.V. staff look forward to exchanging ideas and engaging in conversation.
Programme: Lecture, discussion – followed by pizza and drinks for informal networking
Target group: The bioRN Lounge is a monthly networking event for members of the bioRN cluster. Representatives of biotech and life science companies from the bioRN Life Science Cluster as well as scientists from bioRN research institutes are welcome to attend.
