Sleep

Project goals

People spend a third of their lives asleep. Sufficient sleep quality is important for well-being, while a lack of sleep can have a variety of consequences for health.

The German National Cohort (NAKO) records various aspects of sleep behaviour, including questions about bedtime and wake-up times, sleep quality, snoring and the frequency and duration of naps and daytime sleepiness. The aim is to gain more detailed knowledge about differences in sleep behaviour in the population and to gain insight into the complex relationships between sleep and health.
