The methods and tools of statistics are used to understand the relationships, distribution patterns and causes of diseases in the population and to evaluate the development of new strategies for disease prevention.
The expert group consists of statisticians with extensive experience in the analysis of epidemiological data. It provides advice and support in analysing NAKO data and has also drawn up general recommendations for the statistical analysis of large cohort studies. The expert group is currently analysing the NAKO calibration study with the aim of deriving correction factors for intra-individual variability.

Basis for the statistical analyses in the NAKO: In their publication in the European Journal of Epidemiology, the researchers provide the basis for a harmonised approach for the statistical analyses in the NAKO. Specific aspects of the NACo, such as data collection or weighting, are presented, as well as general recommendations that could be relevant when analysing large cohort studies.
