As the replacement committee for the Corona Expert Board, the ‘Health and Resilience’ Expert Board will advise the federal government on public health issues.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed the 23 members of the new “Health and Resilience” Expert Council to the Federal Chancellery on 18 March 2024.
‘One lesson from the pandemic is that we need to make our healthcare system more resilient and stronger – also with regard to the consequences of climate change and demographic developments.

Among the members are NAKO scientists Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Hoffmann, Managing Director of the Institute of Community Medicine and Head of the Department of Healthcare Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Greifswald, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lieb, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology at the Kiel Campus and Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus, Head of the Institute of Urban Public Health at Essen University Hospital.
The Expert Council is made up of scientists from various disciplines, including public health, ethics, medicine, nursing sciences, social sciences and virology. They work on a voluntary and independent basis. The chair is shared by Prof. Susanne Moebus from the University Medical Centre Essen and the Chairman of the Board of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Prof. Heyo Kroemer.
