Influence of Problematic Internet Use on Mental Health

Project goals

The objectives of the project are:

  1. To determine the prevalence of problematic Internet use in the general population,

  2. To explore potential associated factors, and

  3. To assess its impact on mental health.

In recent years, Internet use in both professional and private contexts has increased significantly, most recently due to the introduction of Internet-enabled mobile devices. Previous studies suggest that a portion of users exhibit behaviors similar to those seen in addiction. However, representative and longitudinal data, which are necessary for a reliable and valid assessment, are scarcely available, primarily due to the novelty of the phenomenon. This project aims to examine the topics of usage, frequency, and dependence in relation to mental health.
