The project aims to examine health literacy as an innovative concept in the context of psychosocial influences on the development, management and care of multifactorial chronic diseases (specifically hypertension and diabetes). Health literacy is understood as “the ability of individuals to make decisions in their daily lives that have a positive impact on their health. Health literacy strengthens freedom of choice and decision-making in health matters and improves the ability to find health information and put it into practice.” Health literacy is assessed using the HLS-EU short questionnaire among participants at the Halle site.
